Recommend your baby gate?
DH and I are going today to purchase a new one for the top of the stairs. We have the safety first one that was recalled, blocking off another room, but obviously will not place it at the top of the stairs due to the recall. The other problem with it, is the handle stopped working properly and you have to yank really hard on the gate to get it open. Anyone have any recs for a swinging gate that works smoothly and you have had no problems with after opening and closing a gazillion time? TIA!

We have this one:
Evenflo secure step
There are pros and cons. It is definitely very secure - there is no way DS will be able to open it! It is pretty hard to openand close but once you get the hang of it, its not bad. I also have to check each time to make sure it is really closed. There is a green/red indicator to let you know if it is closed properly... it is often on red whenI close it and have to wiggle to get it to green.

we had this one and returned it. it was impossible to open with one hand and it would open by itself if jiggled in the wrong way.
we have the kidco safeway gate now and love it.
