Re: Recommend your baker...
Sugar Chic did the cake for my SIL's baby shower. Great design, BEAUTIFUL CAKE may be too pricey if it's just a smash cake. I would definitely recommend her for a party though. Actually, now that I think of it, since you're not getting a cake for 50 people, it'll be signficantly less.
Edible favors - I love, love Emerald City Sweets. She did the sweet table at the shower which had chocolate dipped marshmellows (get them! get them! invite me too so I can eat them again!), chocolate dipped pretzels (high rating from my 6 year old), and frosted baby carriage cookies (I ate mine after bedtime because I didn't want to share. ).

I know there are a few vendors on this site that also got high praises from people.
For my kid's parties, I usually opt for Waldbaum's cupcakes (the pullaparts) for less mess. I've brought home cupcakes from Cupcake Cafe and Magnolia but my kids didn't like them. They were too heavy for them. They do love Crumbs cupcakes.
edited to add a disclaimer: I am friends with Christina / Emerald City Sweets off the site. I think she did an amazing job, but I know everyone has this whole vendor/friend weird thing going on so thought I'd just put it out there lest someone think I'm not being honest about it.
