Recommend your lightwight, not too expensive vaccuum??
I have hardwood floors and carpet. I can't afford the Electrolux or Dyson's. Are there any other good one's that are more reasonably priced? Canister or upright.
Thanks!!!

definitely go to consumer reports for that one! they'll likely have a list of which brands are not too expensive, yet are reliable and work well.....

I have had the dyson for five years now and it isn't really that heavy and it works extremly well. I have a choc. lab and you wouldn't believe what comes up every time I vaccum.
As for a lightweight inexpensive one, I'm not really sure, I have had no luck with vaccuums until the dyson.

my sister bought an expensive Hoover at around the same time as we got the yellow Dyson (4 yrs ago). my sis told me last weekend that they threw it out b/c it lost suction. she's getting a Dyson now
eta: Dyson makes a new lighter weight vacuum now (DC18).
at the time when my sister bought her Hoover, it rated better than mine in consumer reports. go figure.

I have always been happy with my Kenmore.
Actually, my Kenmore is a hand-me-down (@ 15 years old) from my parents and I like it wayyy better than my Dirt Devil (brand new)

The Dyson DC24 weights just under 12 pounds.
