HELP! Please recommend your digital camera!!
Dh and I want to get a better digital for when arrives. I'm so confused!!
I'm used to the point and shoot ones which give OK pics but I'm thinking about one with some more bells and whistles. Probably one with SLR and some good image stabilization. And I REALLY don't want to spend more than like, $250ish..
Need Recs! Thanks so much

You won't be able to get an SLR for that amount. But you can get a great point and shoot. Honestly, if I were in the market for another camera, I'd stick with Olympus, Canon or Nikon.

Re: HELP! Please recommend your digital camera!!
we're also shopping for a new one....
a couple tips... make sure the pixel # isn't too low (make sure it's over 2 megapix.), and invest with a camera that has a very high optical zoom.
high pixel # + digital zoom still can't compare with lower pix# + high optical zoom
we're thinking about either a sony cybershot or a cannon....

Are there any point and shoots that have several frames per second?

Re: HELP! Please recommend your digital camera!!
Another vote for the Canon S5. I had the S1 and loved it. It's an awesome zoom for a point and shoot, has image stabilization, you can use AA instead of the rechargeable batteries it comes with if you're out and about and run out of power, shoots in a continuous shoot mode which is as close as you'll get to multiple frames per second that you'd find in an SLR. It also shoots short videos, panoramic shots, has fully automatic, semi-automatic and fully manual options. Only shortcoming is that it does have the small shutter lag you get in any point and shoot. You won't eliminate that unless you go to an SLR.
Here's a shot I took with my S1 a few years ago...

My Olympus Stylus 760 can do that. It's a great camera and costs under $300. It's a point and shoot.

there are a lot of features on todays camera most people dont even use.
Most people aren't even taken the highest resolution pictures with there cameras as they use easy mode. To take ful range of consumer cameras (non-slr) you have to use Manual mode which will generate a RAW image where in photoshop and other programs you will have to fine tweak some settings, then you can export to jpeg...
There are websites, tv shows devoted to getting the most out of your camera instead of just point and shoot in easy mode.

OOOOOO-thanks for the tip. I just looked up the specs on this camera and it does offer this:
Sequential Shooting High speed: 3.6 frames per second up to 13 frames (3MP) Normal speed: 1.1 frames per second to the card capacity
I think I have to go try this camera out in the store. Otherwise I have to shell out big bucks for an SLR and DH would have killed me. You may have save me hundred of dollars-on behalf of my husband (an me!) thanks!
