Recommend your toys for meal time
John is 13.5 months and likes to play while eating since he gets bored. The toys I have now seem to be for an infant and I just need some recommedation of acouple of small toys to put on his high chair tray.

Re: Recommend your toys for meal time
im not really into giving her anything while shes eating...if shes not eating when shes sitting then shes not that hungry, you know? i really only bring stuff when we go out to dinner to keep her occupied between appetizers and letting us eat and stuff- and again, we go out at a time when we know she is going to be hungry and not antsy to get out and walk around....we bring dora table toppers, books, crayons...nothing crazy, and it seems like enough...

Re: Recommend your toys for meal time
I never give DD anything to play with while she is eating as its hard enough to get her to eat so dont want any distractions. I do take some crayons, little people with us when we go out to eat but this is just to distract her until the food arrives.

Re: Recommend your toys for meal time
I have been thinking about this too that he he needs to learn that mealtime is not playtime but for eating. But he throws such a fit since he doesn't want to be in his high chair and would rather be playing. I bring toys out with us too when we go to a restaurant.

Re: Recommend your toys for meal time
I usually give a spoon to hold or engage her by singing or telling her to clap her hands or ask her how big she is or teach her body parts. So she is distracted in a way, but isn't actually playing with anything while she eats.

Re: Recommend your toys for meal time
I give DS books to look at. But when he gets bored i'll give him a toy. Hey my philosophy is: If the toy will make him sit there and eat his food then fine.
He has this fisher price shape sorter toy that he likes playing with so sometimes I give him that but usually I do the books first.
