Recommend your vacuum for pet hair.
I am in desperate need of a new vacuum, but there are so many choices. I would really love a dyson but , besides the fact that the majority of my house is wood floors and tile. I have two area rugs that my dog loves to sleep on and my dd (no matter how much I vacuum, can't get rid of the hair) is covered with hair if she is playing on the carpet.

I have a Miele vacuum and love it.
My house sounds similar to yours. I have all wood floors and tiles. I have two area rugs that my dog (a long hair chihuahua) loves to lay all over the rugs and couches. I have put my vacuum through hell and back ( a house move and complete construction of an entire basement and first floor) and it is still working 5 years later just like the day I got it for my bridal shower.

Re: Recommend your vacuum for pet hair.
We got the Bissel Clean View. The guy who installed our carpets had one and recommended it.
It's great and has amazing suction and I love the dirt cup that you dump out and see all the cr@p you picked up! It always amazes me that there is more hair in our house than on the cats!
What's also cool is it has this little "turbo brush" attachment that you can use to vacuum the pet hair off the couch, chairs etc...

Sears Progressive.
It's lightweight and cleans very well. It was the top rated vacuum by consumer reports.
I looked at dyson too, but found them too heavy and expensive

i second that. we have the DC24 and it's small so its easy for us to put away since we dont have a lot of room and it's light. we have hardwood floors and 2 area rugs and it does the trick. we have 2 dogs, one yorkie and a boston terrier and the boston sheds A LOT.

Re: Recommend your vacuum for pet hair.
Don't be fool by the name Animal on any Dyson vacuum cleaner.. It's a marketing tool that seems to be working and now they came up with the name Allergy for some of there vacuums.. And I'm sure that's working to...
