Recommendations for first table foods to give baby
DS is 9 months and at his check-up yesterday, I was given the ok to move up to stage 3 baby foods and also start introducing regular foods. They did tell me the foods to stay away from (peanuts, citrus, eggs, etc.), but does anyone have any recommendations on what I can give him to start off with? I'm a paranoid new mom and am soooo scared of choking, so I would love to hear of foods that are the easiest for him to take with the least risk of choking. I am guessing that most foods would need to be chopped up (can you tell I'm a new mom?)?
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Connor did well with things like waffles and pancakes. Watermelon without seeds is a good start, too.

have you given him Cheerios? see, my doctor gave me theokay at 6 months for table foods... DD is 10 months and eats everything that we eat (within reason)... melon is good, puffs (gerber) cheerios, noodles(obviously small some girls like the pastina), soo you can have her naw on a bagel it keeps my daughter entertained and helps her teeth fee better..

Re: Recommendations for first table foods to give baby
DS liked the tiny Gerber foods like carrots and green beans. (Although it's hard to find them now) I cut foods so small when he started, like chicken nuggets and pasta, that I was a nut. I would cut them as small as a pea. OH! He liked peas too!
ETA: Our dr said he should try puffs. I had no idea what puffs were. Then we found the Gerber puffs. At 20 months old, he still eats them.

I just started giving him the puffs and he seems to like them :)

DS HATED pastina. I was floored. But we introduced regular pasta soon after, cut small and he loved them!!!!!

Re: Recommendations for first table foods to give baby
Besides the things other moms mentioned we gave DS cut up avocado, cut up ripe mango and pears, small pasta he could pick up (like ditalini, tubitini), banana (he was so cute... we'd hold it up to his mouth and he'd take a nibble), cooked green peas... I'm trying to think of others.... really anything soft and small. Have fun!

DS is 12 months. He loves pastina mixed with squash, bananas, french toast sticks, waffles, pancakes, cheerios, scrambled eggs, and cottage cheese.

Re: Recommendations for first table foods to give baby
i feel the same way- dd is going to be 10 mos in a lil over a week, and she still hasnt tried any table foods. she only has 2 teeth that are starting to cut thru. i am afraid of her choking too. i did try putting watermelon in one of those mesh feeder thingys, and she wanted no part of it. i was planning on trying pastina, but i have been a chicken with actually trying it! i am afraid if i dont try some things soon, she will be still eating stage 2 baby food when she's in high school. its just hard to get started and not be nervous!

This is so me! I'm such a chicken myself. I am going to start w/ stage 3 for a week and just every few days maybe introduce a "real" food. Something easy like pastina or mashed potatoes!!
