Reco's for Charleston, SC trip?
Hi, looking for hotel, places to go, see, do while there in Charleston. Thanks so much. I have heard it's a great place to visit. Looking to stay on the beach, not the river side.
thanks again for any input.

I went, but only as a day trip. It was really nice. Tons of restaurants and shopping.

We went to the Magnolia Planation down there (it is still a working plantation). We also did a walking tour of the historic houses of downtown Charleston and a horse and buggy ride around the city. You can sign up for those at your hotel or just get on the buggy right when you are walking down.
There is a big street market on the main street downtown (I don't remember the name of the street).
Also, you have to eat the grits, with cheese, and bbq sauce...they are delicious!!
Charleston is a pretty city - it feels very south!
ETA: we stayed on the river side at a Holiday Inn hotel. Since it was Feb. wasn't really beach weather but we drove down to the beach and it was really nice also.

Kings Street is fun.
Kiawah Island Resort is a barrier island and a great place to stay!
