Recycling in Nassau County... List of acceptable items

I've been very good with putting out plastics each week (my bin is always overflowing), and I wanted to start recycling more items.

What other items (non-plastic) are able to be recycled? I'd like to fully recycle everything I possibly can.

Thanks!!!

Re: Recycling in Nassau County... List of acceptable items

my father is SICK about recycling.

he puts in used plastic wrap, ziploc bags, RAZORs (he takes the blade out). Of course, all plastic bags from supermarkets. those little things that you take out of the orange juice container in order to pour, the wraps around the milk containers (milk containers too ...gallon ones)

oh, there is so much...

If plastic isn't labeled with a "1" or "2" (some places can take other numbers, but not many), it can't be recycled. The numbers equate to the chemical makeup of the plastic.

Metal, glass and paper are the other big recycling items.

CFL bulbs can be recycled at HomeDepot. Some towns take used motor oil. Batteries can be recycled (and need to be because of all the really hazardous chemicals)
