Red! You're not gonna believe this!
I was in Mayfair Shopping Center, in front of Waldbaums----
this girl comes up to me, says, "Hi, this is sooo embarassing - i was wondering if you could help me out. My car is stuck on this road (pointing to jericho) and i ran outta gas. I'm a student at stony brook and i'm not from around here - none of my friends are answering their phones, i'm basically stranded. I was wondering if you could spare a few dollars?"
I took out my cell and told her that we should call the cops - they carry gas cans! She quickly said, "oh no, thats ok - that'll take too long. Do you have any money you can give me?" I just shook my head and walked away....
and I saw her go up to 3 more people!!!
Sounds familiar, doesn't it....
Do you remember what the girl looked like?
"my" girl was about 19, 20 - reddish wavy hair, tied back in a pony tail. Thin, about 5'3".
What a coincidence!

That was smart of you to say that you and her should call the cops.
You should of called the cops anyway and tell them she's panhandling  They'll give her a nice ride for free

omg!!!!...I was approached also, I was at the 7-11 on Jericho near Mayfair at like2am 2 months ago and she came up to me with the same story . She was trying to get to stonybrook college and was running out of gas, stupid me gave her $3 and rolled up my window. Wow

I had a similar situation in the city- this young boy with a sign- he needed $17 to get home etc
I gave him $5- I was upset- I felt really bad- I wished I put him on the train myself
then 3 months later I am walking down the other side of the street- and there he is- people were about to give him money- I put a stop to that! I was livid!

oh Dh and i had that happen to us we were in Atlantic city. well the first time when we went this girl came up to us crying saying she lost 5000 dollars it was stolen from her pocketbook she had a birthday party at a casino and someone took it out of her pocketbook and she was wondering if we had money we could lend her. Dh and i were like I am sorry but we dont have any money. than the following year the same girl came up to me and Dh again with the same story and this time i said we can call the cops and she was like no thank you and walked away and went up to someone else ans stupid them gave her money!
