redoing deck: Edited to add Pics
we just got an estimate and the guy said about $8,500 to redo our deck with weather treated wood.
Well, we went for it and redid the deck last month before the cold started. It actually enede up being a bit cheaper. We redid it in wood and I made sure we discussed the arsenic treated lumber. They don't do this any more so the wood should be safe.
Pics at the end.

Re: redoing deck
Yeah, price of Lumber is up and of course the Labor to do it. I wonder if it will be cheaper to do it right after or before the Winter My estimate was $11K

Re: redoing deck
are you taking down a deck and installing a new one or just repair/updating? We need a deck installed and I thought it would be around 6000 for nothing fancy. I saw an add in the pennysaver for about 6000 for a basic deck.

Re: redoing deck
what kind of decking are we talking about? On the ground or on the 2nd floor? Just wondering because we need our 2nd floor Enclosed Deck redone. I didn't think it was going to cost that much money.

Re: redoing deck
We just built a deck ourselves and the material alone cost over $1K...that's for a treated wood deck. A Treks deck would have cost us almost $3K.

Re: redoing deck
DH built our deck himself (he's a contractor) and it cost almost 3K. We have a 20x20 deck.

Re: redoing deck
We got quotes of $1800 & $2000 just to do wood stairs from the backyard slider into the yard (8 steps and railing) Dh & his friend ended up doing it but it's ridiculous how much everything costs. I was at the cost for just some stairs, seriously, nothing fancy at all.

The price was to take all the wood off and replace with new one, keeping the foundation. Redoing everything, floors, railings, fence, steps, ects. He said it wasn't recommended to powerwash anymore, it's been done too many times.Image Attachment(s):

Here is a pic of mine and the engineer told me it would be $11K to replace it . Once we move in I will start getting estimates from Contractors though.

my FIL and husband just built our back deck and it was about 2K for materials. i can't imagine them charging 6K just for the labor. that seems like a lot!

Thanks! So i mean your deck isn't that much more lumber than mine. I just can't imagine that they'd charge so much. Did you get more than one estimate?

Are you building your own deck or is a contractor doing it? Just wondering?
