Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe Split
Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe have separated. The couple's rep released a statement to TMZ Monday morning that says "We are saddened to announce that Reese & Ryan have decided to formally separate. They remain committed to their family and we ask that you please respect their privacy and the safety of their children at this time."
Sources tell TMZ Witherspoon has contacted celebrity divorce lawyer Robert Kaufman, who has represented Jennifer Aniston, Roseanne and Lisa Marie Presley.
Sources say Witherspoon spoke with Kaufman about divorcing Ryan Phillippe, her husband of seven years. The couple has two children. They met at Witherspoon's 21st birthday party.
As for why Witherspoon contacted Kaufman, we're told it was not triggered by one event. Rather, one connected source says it was "cumulative."
Divorce papers have not yet been filed.

She's normal & although strict (and prudish) valued her marriage and family life.
He ALWAYS looked miserable.
At the Oscars, he looked like he was sucking on a lemon.
Come to think of it, he always looked that way.
Not surprised...saw this one coming months ago.
Even my DH said, "if she wins the Oscar, they're getting divorced"...

i never expected this
i was just watching something on her on the e chan.. and she was saying her marriage has lasted so long because they keep their lives out of the spot light and now this

I couldn't agree more. He always comes off to me as stuck up; a real tool. I don't think he could handle her success.
As a side note: I don't like it when two blondes get together, too much like Barbie and Ken (yes, I can say this, I'm blonde and these are my rules! )

I am not surprised. A while ago she had mentioned that they were in counseling, so maybe they couldn't resolve their differences.

She also said in an interview-I'm glad Ryan's working now it takes osme of the pressure off of me. I knid of thought to myself hmm thats kind of rude to say to a mag about your husband.
