Refinancing help!! HARP?

We are upside down in our mortgage because our home value keeps dropping, my husband just got laid off, and I guess we are now in a "financial hardship" because now 2/3 of my monthly salary is paying the mortgage. I need some help on where to start. I am so clueless!! Can we get any assistance with HARP or one of those programs who do I have to contact? My mortgage is with Seterus, originally Chase, this is the third company, and according to the Fannie Mae website, they own our loan....

I think you need to contact whichever company is servicing your mortgage - - Seterus -- to find out if they participate in HARP, and if so, if you meet the eligibility requirements. If your servicer doesn't participate in HARP, you could go to other lenders who do.

Also, if you go to the website www.makinghomeaffordable.gov, there is a lot of info on there regarding HARP and other programs, and also phone numbers you can call to speak to HUD housing counselors to get some advice on how to proceed.
