Refinishing wood on stairs
We just purchased a hi-ranch...I'm having the wood floors in the LR/DR/Hallway/MBR refinished next week. The only thing I haven't decided on yet was was what to do with the staircase(s).
Right night the flight going up is wood...the landing has linoleum...and the flight going to the lower level is carpeted. I'm planning on ripping up the linoleum and carpeting, but should I have the wood refinished on both staircases and landing? Or should I tile the landing????
Any suggestions would be so helpful!

Re: Refinishing wood on stairs
I would do the wood. We did carpet on ours to save some $ and I can't wait to get the wood refinished.
Good Luck.

Re: Refinishing wood on stairs
I have a hi-ranch too, and eventually we are going to have the stairs re-finished to their wood state (they had carpet and tile over them which we ripped up).
I would do the stairs in your case. However, you might not have wood under the linoleum at the entry where the door is. We ripped up our linoleum and all that was there was a plywood base. My DH then tiled it and I think that's a big mistake. The grout is all cracked and the tiles cracked easily - it's a heavily trafficked area. We are going to put wood there eventually too.

you are right - there probably isnt wood under the lenolium, its most likely plywood.
Our tile is great - i would think would would not be a good idea because of the high traffic. but it would look nice!
eta: here is a pic of my landing - we have wood stairs - the tile is the smaller version of our ktchen tile
