Registry Anxeity! Vent
I just feel like I'm so disorganized with what my NEEDS and Essentials are vs all the things I want to have. I went to BBB and BRU last night just to look at last minute things and all seemed ok but I can't escape this feeling, plus where is it all going in my 1 bedroom apt. I just feel like I'm being swallowed by my home and it's scaring me to death hopefully this anxeitly goes away but as of now its here to stay. Hopefully I'm not crazy for feeling this way.

Re: Registry Anxeity! Vent
I would recommend going with a mom of a recent young baby. They seem to know more of the "most have's" and the "can do without's". Also, they do have smaller items of things... my high chair for example looks more like real furniture and it's not HUGE and bulky like the majority of the ones out on the market today. I also got the ocean wonders travel swing... instead of getting a regular swing.. it takes up a lot less room.
We had some space issues here... but it all worked out. Don't get lost in the "i NEED this and I NEED that and I need need need". There are definitely items you can do without.
Also, I'd say try to clear spaces in the pantry and linen closet, etc to make room for the baby items. In the kitchen as well (for bottles and things)... we started doing this in our apartment and it made ALL the difference!!! Throw out stuff you don't use... etc.. just clean out the old stuff to make room for the new. I started thinking DH was crazy when he was on this huge purging binge... but after my shower... it made things A LOT easier!!!

Re: Registry Anxeity! Vent
I'm where you are in terms of the stuff overtaking my apartment. All of our baby shower stuff is piled high on our dining room wall. nesting has kicked in full gear and I have no where to put 3/4 of this stuff!
But, like everything else we'll find a way and it will work out.

Re: Registry Anxeity! Vent
I feel like this sometimes too. We also aree currently in a 1 bedroom apt, and I think that is a big part of where my anxiety stems from. I wish I could give my babygirl this big, beautiful nursery, but we cant right. I just try to remind myself that all a baby needs is love and milk...and we are saving now so that we can get a house...
So yes, right now it will be tight, but it will be worth it later on.
Sometimes I look around and just think how the helll are we going to fit all this stuff in here and make room for this baby??? And i freak out...but take it step by step. Go with a mom of a baby/toddler or have her check you registry to make sure you have the essentials.
Declutter what you have now ( we still need to do this).
And try to find creative ways of organizing things. I might go to the Container store to try to check out some space savers.
Good luck. You're not alone. I know it's tough.

Re: Registry Anxeity! Vent
it also doesn't help this is a total 180 from your wedding registry!
Wedding = want Baby = Need
It's just amazing all the crap one tiny little 6-10lbs thing needs.

Re: Registry Anxeity! Vent
Thank you ladies. I think a lot of it also stems from the fact that DH is so so busy at work and hardly home at the moment. When I get a plan to organize things I end up crying bc I can't move or lift anything. I was on the verge of hiring movers yesterday to take my 52' projection tv and telling them to do with it what you will lol
Glad to know I'm not alone 10weeks to go thats all I keep saying!

My biggest transition is that for Wedding stuff, I wasn't so worried about safety.
Now I worry that any little thing might be dangerous.

Re: Registry Anxeity! Vent
I am SO THERE with you! We are in a 1 br (I love our apartment, love our landlords, so we didn't want to move yet) and just had our shower and I have cried twice already! We purged a lot of stuff we didn't need to make room, got a dresser and put a changing table on top, the Bright Stars travel sized swing instead of a full sized swing, and DH and I have constant conversations about maximizing space. It will work, trust me! FM me if you need any advice!

Re: Registry Anxeity! Vent
I know how you feel. I was having a panic attack the other day wondering where all this stuff is going to go!
Three things helped me.
First I emailed all of my friends that have kids under 2 and I asked them to give me 5 must haves for the baby and they were limited to 5. I told them they could be brand specific. Then I cross referenced their responses and registered for what they said.
There's also a website called www.babygizmo.com . I found this after my DH bought me the book instead of Baby Bargains. The website breaks it down by must haves vs. nice to haves which is also helpful.
Thirdly, for me, I'm on bedrest so I could only do it from the computer. This seriously kept me under control. I did not feel like registering for all that little crap that may or may not be necessary. My general rule was if it cost less than $10, I don't need to register for it. Some items did cost less (like onesies and some other small items) but if I felt I needed it, I registered for it.
