I have a 1 year old and me and my husband hardly go on dates now that we have the baby. How often does everone do date night now that you have a baby?

Re: Relationship Question

When they were babies, once in a very blue moon. Now that they're pre-schoolers, maybe once a month - but we go out separately for "me" time. Not a lot of "us" time.

Re: Relationship Question

Atleast once or twice a month, if not more. I usually leave the baby with my MIL or SIL. Some nights she will stay over there. Sometimes we go out alone, some nights with friends.... sometimes we just have people come over and hang out at our house if she is asleep. We try to do it as often as possible so we don't get in a rut and forget why we married each other...

Date night, what's that? We went out for 2 hours on valentine's day and 2 hours on my birthday last week since September when she was born. We go out but we bring her with us most of the time.

Re: Relationship Question

we don't.....DH works retail so some weeks it's rare he's even home at night. When we're off together on a Sun we go to church and spend the day as a family and we are quite content with that.

We love bringing the baby with us and if we need a night out alone, we have friends that jump at the chance to watch her!

Re: Relationship Question

Thanks Ladies
We never go anywhere now that we have our little bundle of joy. We are still young I am 25 and he is 28 and I think we both miss the way things used to be before our little prince came along. I guess we both have to make more of an effort now that we are parents.

Re: Relationship Question

We have grandmas if we really need them, and friends/family, but we rarely just do it just for a date nite. we have so many things where we NEED babysitting, and even a wedding is a date night for us Chat Icon so we rarely ask for babysitting "just to get out"...
but we do have plenty of opportunities and make the best of it, whether its a party that the kids dont come to, or grandma BEGS to have them overnite, etc.

Like Barbara, we enjoy our me time and since we're only bothering the other parent, we do it more often than date nites (girls or boys nites out, shopping, sports, nails done, etc).
we find that when we're out alone, all we do is talk about them anyway Chat Icon

Its important to have couple time as well as me time, so dont feel guilty. Let a grandma, cousin, aunt or friend enjoy the baby, while mommy and daddy get some time to go out for the evening (and talk about the baby all nite Chat Icon )

Re: Relationship Question

We only go out when we're celebrating someone's birthday or a wedding. My mother will take him overnight. I miss being able to pick up and head out to dinner.

Re: Relationship Question

Lately it's been every 2 or 3 months, but we have decided to really TRY to do it once a month. The kids sleep at my moms when we have our date nights, so we also get to sleep in!!!Chat Icon
