removing a pool
How much cost/trouble is involved in removing an in-ground pool? We really don't want a pool but so many houses we are thinking about buying have them. At first we were not even considering homes with in-ground pools but now it looks like we may be willing to compromise, provided the house has everything else that we're looking for.
Has anyone had an in-ground pool removed? If so, about how much did it cost, and what were the permit, etc. requirements with the town/county?
Thanks!

Re: removing a pool
I've gotten estimates between 8-12K.
I's really not worth the time or expense. For me it was cheaper to just keep the pool and take care of it.

Re: removing a pool
When we had our liner fixed this year I joked around with the owner and told him that I rather have it filled. He told me that it is actually more expensive to fill a pool than have one installed. It isn't a matter of just filling it with dirt. You need to take everything out, including all the filter lines and then.
