Removing glass shower doors

Has anyone removed shower doors without replacing the tiles? What do you fill the screw holes with? It's becoming a PIA to bathe DS and with #2 coming I think it will just be easier with a shower curtain but I dont want to redo the whole bathroom.

I thought I saw a post about this awhile ago but can't find it now Chat Icon

I don't have experience with this, but I remember watching a DIY TV segment on it. One important factor is if the frame is adhering to the tile (either via adhesive or grout) You must be super-careful to make sure you don't accidentally crack the tiles whle removing the frame. I presume you fill the screw holes with grout?

I bet you can find a video with tips online somewhere (youtube or diy network), since a lot of people do this....

good luck!

We did this! We unscrewed the screws in the tracks..then filled them with Qualk (sp?). Our tiles were white so it made it easy to fill in.

Re: Removing glass shower doors

we actually just removed our shower doors a few days ago!

we just filled the holes with chaulking.. some of the tiles even broke off so we had to glue them back on.. we can't afford to replace all the tiles and redo the bathroom just yet.. so we cleaned the crap out of it ,cause the tub where the tracks were sitting was really bad.. but it looks like new now! and a shower curtain was icing on the cake! it looks so much better!

What did you use to get all the silicone and glue off the tiles and tub?
