removing paint from brick

How do you go about doing it? Is it easy enough to do by yourself? By removing the paint are you causing any damage to the brick or cement in between?

I think pretty much the only option is to have it sand blasted. I believe that professional painters can do it for you. No idea if it damages the brick or mortar.

From people I know who have tried to remove paint from brick, you might as well just repaint it. My friends have said that no matter what they've tried, they can't get all the paint out of the brick and from the morter.

we had our painter sandblast the brick on our fireplace. Wasn't cheap it and it was a mess but worth it.

Yes, sandblast or power washing it off would probably be the only way. Check with a rep at your local home store to be sure.

If it's latex paint, you should be able to chemically strip it. Sand blasting is a better bet, though, if it's exterior brick.

I was doing this yesterday, I used the powerwasher. We are renovating the house and I have been wanting to remove the paint from the brick since we bought the house a month ago. I only did it for about 10 minutes just to see if it worked and it did!!! I am so excited for the work day to end so I can go powerwash some bricks.

the paint just comes right off? I want to remove paint from the brick on the outside of my house. Can u post some pics when your done?
