Renting a Hospital Grade Pump?
I dont believe that Winthrop rents hospital grade pumps- so how would I go about renting one? Is there an local company that rents them? Or can you rent them from a hospital that you are not delivering at?

Have you tried calling your insurance company? They gave my sister a brand new one and sent it to the house. I don't know if it was because she was having twins or not but it can't hurt to call (especially if you have good insurance).

My friend had to rent one, you can get them at BRU actually or some local pharmacies (usually the private ones).

Where do you live? If you go on the LLL website you can get the information. You can also go to www.medela.com and easily find help. I have never heard of a BRU renting pumps. Unless your baby is a premie or has a medical condition insurance will not likely help you at all pay for it.
If u need help pumping please let me know. I did it for a year.

Re: Renting a Hospital Grade Pump?
When I had my son, my hospital (St. Vincent's in Staten Island), there was a lactation consultant that came in and not only taught me how to pump, but she also got me in contact with the person who rented the pumps. I don't remember how much it was exactly, but I know it wasn't expensive at all and I believe my dh was able to put in a claim to the ins. company because my son was in the NICU.

Re: Renting a Hospital Grade Pump?
You are having a preemie on purpose? If so then speak with an LC before the birth and get yourself all set up. It is MUCH easier then tryng to figure this all out when you are going back and forth from the hospital and recovering. Nursing Mother Companion Guide is a great book. If you need anything please let me know!
