repeating a middle name as a first name in children?
My DS is Peter Joseph, named after his great grandfather...DH's name is Joseph. Now we are discussing names and Joseph Thomas or Thomas Joseph keep coming up. Would it be weird to have either one child with the middle name that is the others first? or both with the same middle name?
FWIW DH is Joseph, his father is Joseph, his fathers father was Peter Joseph. On my side my father is Jose, his father was jose as well. So the name runs deep on both sides.

If it's normal in your family, I don't think it's weird at all. My DH's best friend is one of 4 Irish boys and their sons all have John or Michael somewhere in their names!

I think its fine! Our situation is a little different but my dad remarried and I have a sister who is 19 yrs younger than me. She was named after me so her middle name is my first name.

I don't think it's weird at all - it's great that it's sentimental to you guys.

Re: repeating a middle name as a first name in children?
For some reason I wouldn't do that and I have no problem using names in the family, my cousins son has the same name as DS, it is a family name. That said if I have another boy I wouldn't use DS's middle name bc

Personally I would not do it but if you like it then go for it.

DD#1's middle name is DD#2's first name. Nobody really realized it. We had such a hard time agreeing on names and DH really wanted #2's name for #1.

Re: repeating a middle name as a first name in children?
My DH and BIL share this-one has it as a 1st name, the other as a middle name and both resent that their mother didn't choose something different. I think it depends on the personality of your kids though.

DH's three sisters all have the same middle name. My cousin's two daughters also have the same middle name. I think it's fine!

Re: repeating a middle name as a first name in children?
If I have another DS his first name would be the same as my DS's middle name. I don't think there is anything wrong, since most ppl don't go by first and middle name.

Re: repeating a middle name as a first name in children?
I think its fine as log as it's not Joseph Peter!
(My DH and his brother have reverse names like that, which I find super strange...and his two sisters have the same middle name)
