The little yellow pieces and the white flaps that go on them. I haven't replaced mine at all since I started 6 weeks ago so I was wondering.

Re: Replacing membranes/valves on Medela pump?
Been pumping almost 4 months here, and have never replaced them. I just make sure to clean them really well and sterilize everything. I'm curious if I'm supposed to change them, b/c if so, I'm behind the ball on that

I never changed them yet at 5 months. I have some spare ones that came with it. They don't looked torned or anything so I did not replace them.

The white come off and mine came with a second set of white flaps. I dont think you would have to change yellow part. I figure ill change white part if it looks distorted or doesnt pump as good. I been pumping for about 6 wks too and it doesnt seem to need to be changed yet.

Okay, I had a spare set so I changed them because I'm noticing my highest setting isn't as strong so I figured I would try everything before buying a new one. Maybe this is why I don't pump all that much

Re: Replacing membranes/valves on Medela pump?
I've been using my Medela Swing pump since day 1 and the only time I replaced the parts is when I burned them flat while sterilizing in a boiling pot of water which I forgot about...after replacing the parts, I just sterilize them daily in my sterilizing machine.

I don't replace the valves but I do replace the membranes every 1 - 2 months. I would notice that the pump wouldn't drain my breast as much but when I changed the membranes it seemed to help a lot.

I pumped until 1 year for my oldest DD, and never replaced the yellow valves. I did replace the white flaps every 3 months or so, which helps keep a more powerful suction.

I've heard it's every 6 months-- but mine don't look like they need to be replaced yet. You're supposed to inspect your parts periodically to make sure there's no wear and tear.
