I rarely ever post anymore, but reading this makes me sick. I can almost guarantee that, god forbid it were any of us who had children shot in this school, that we would not be responding that we can't blame this guy....
I just cannot fathom dealing with this in the first place, but to then find that there could have been a chance that my child could have been saved 
I had a family member in Columbine. He did not die, but it still affected him greatly. I blame guns.

For the life of me I cannot believe I'm reading people saying it was acceptable and understandable for trained police to refuse to go into that school. When teachers were using their bodies to shield their students and armed officers were hiding?? Really?

Exactly. When you become a cop you are sworn to protect and serve. And not just when the perp has a smaller weapon than you.
What happened there was a disgrace.

This. I am beyond disgusted and I hope each one of those cowards are brought up on charges.. should they have to be in that situation? Of course not, but the reality is we live in a ****** up world and they signed up for that position and if you carry a ******** gun for a living, you better be the first one into that building! The problem with a glock in these situations is that they are far less precise and accurate, so with kids running for their lives, it will be absolutely a lot harder to subdue a shooter. Luckily, I live in a town where our SRO has body armour and an AR15 locked at the school, so while that will take him a few minutes to get on, he’s going to get to that shooter faster than the rest of the police force. Do I think that’s the answer? No, I think a ban on AR15 is the answer, bc you can’t expect officers to bring a knife to a gun fight, bc while both AR15 and glocks are semi auto weapons, the AR15 is more accurate and precise, it has faster bullet power and the standard magazine is 30 as apposed to the 6-15 clip to a Glock. But until that happens, I want the SRO at my kids school to be armed to the nines, not some poor math and English teacher armed ((unless of course they are ex-military or something and want to go through rigorous training)).

That is this website for you His JOB was to go into the line of fire! As his boss, the Sheriff said, his ONLY job was to go in and kill the killer. Now maybe he could not have stopped the killer from killing everyone he did, but I would bet he could have saved at least ONE child.

I am so sorry. I can't even imagine. I was in us when this happened, and it totally rocked us.
