repost-belongs on pets but more traffic here
hi all
I am leaving for vacation on the 11th for one week. Usually when I go away, my mom watches my little bichon frise for me. But she recently moved into an apartment where her landlord wont let her. I cant find anyone else I trust to take my dog. My inlaws suggested a boarding place called Quail Run where they board their dog whenver they go away. I have never boarded her before and Im horrified. I was considering leaving her at home and having my neighbors come in and feed her and let her out etc. But with this extreme heat, I started to worry that a few visits a day might not be enough for her. I know my inlaws dog has always been fine at Quail Run, but she has never been to a place like that before. Im so horrified I am about to cancel my trip. Can some of you dog lovers please lend me some opinions? She is my baby girl and I am so upset!

Can your mom stay at your place with the pooch? I think if you have anxiety over leaving your BF at the boarding place then you will not enjoy your vaca. I have not heard of that facility, so that is not a critique of it.
Good luck!

Maybe try talking to your vet. they might have info on people they recommend for petsitting. Though, I would understand you being hesitant having someone you don't know at your house, but I know my vet has two people they said do a lot of pet sitting for thier clients and said they were great.

Thanks for the replys, I am concerend though about her being in the house all alone for thatmany days, even if someone was coming by to watch her through the day. Especially with the extreme heat. Do you girls really think that an in home pet sitter is a better option to a boarding facility? I know she will be in the comfort of her own home, but do you think she will be all alone for too long?

Do you have a/c at home?? If so, I think she would be okay with just a few daily visits. If not, then honestly, I think you have to board her.
Sharon's Ark in West Islip is fantastic! Every single member of my family uses it - so we're talking multiple generations. Our family vet is literally 50 feet away in the next building.
