repost from pregnancy- if anyone knows the answer
i went to the hospital last night because i was having contractions. They are about 10 minutes apart and have been since. The dr. told me to come in, but they dischrarged me and said when they are closer to 5 minutes apart, then i'd need to go back. i'm only dilated 1cm. The pain is so uncomfortable and i cannot sleep for anything. Everytime i fall asleep i get a painful contraction that wakes me up. I cant go through another day and night of this-i've gotten no sleep and its just painful.
Do you think they would possibly induce me to kinda speed up this process, or do you think i have to wait it out and deal with this pain?

i was also having contractions irregularly for like 3 weeks before i gave birth, at my due date they were like 10-15 min apart and i was like 80%effaced and 2-3 CM dilated and they still wouldn't induce me either. They also said don't come in till the contractions were 5 min apart.
well a couple days later, my doctor said she wouldn't induce me per say, but if on the wed of that week, i came in, they wouldn't turn me away since i was over my due date and dilated and effaced. Pretty much she was telling me they would induce me at that point without saying it. so i thought about it and figured i had been going through this so long and made it this farsick as a dog (i had m/s the whole time i was pregnant and was still throwing up every day) so my DS would come when he was ready, and i decided to wait it out and not go. well later that night i went into labor naturally. I was so happy, plus i was like 5 CM by the time i got to the hospital and i had a really good labor and delivery. Sometimes if you not quite dilated and effaced, and they induce you before your ready, you can go through a really long and painful labor and sometimes it will end up in a C-section (which the doctors will tell you you really dont want unless you have to). So really think about it and talk to your doctor before deciding. For me, i didn't want to mess with nature at the end, if he wasn't ready i didnt want to force it and i feel i made a good decision.

I can't imagine they would induce you as it sounds like you're in labor to me.
Call your ob & tell her what you posted. If anything she can give you an option of an epidural where you can sleep.
