Restaurant for Cocktail Party
I wanted to host a cocktail party (with buffet) for my mother's 60th b-day party. Someplace with a private room that would accomadate 40-50 people. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am desperate!

I'm not sure where you're looking but Sweetwaters in Hauppauge is nice for something like this.

Just threw the same thing, a cocktail party for my Mom's 60th birthday, we had it at Meehan's in Huntington Village, all appetizers, open bar, 4 hours, it was a great place, everyone loved the food. Where/what town are you looking to have it?

(although I don't know if they do buffets.  )

Diane's in Roslyn will be perfect! In the upstairs room-- I had my RD there. Tons of appts/passed food to choose from, etc.

Huntington would be good - I actually considered Meehan's but then forgot about it! I will look into it...

Thanks - I will take a look. That is right near my house!
I can send you pics of my RD if you want to see.. it was passed food for 45 mins then sit down... You can do whatever you want in terms of set up. The menu is great!

I wasn't a guest, but someone had an engagement party and rented the entire place. It was really cute.

I've been to parties like this at Stonebridge CC in Haupaugge. The last time I was there was about 2 years ago and the caterer, at the time, was pretty good. The room was large and very comfortable and I think you were able to bring in your own music.
