I am not a big fan of Claudio's myself. We really enjoyed the The Fifth Season. We sat at one of their tasting tables, which was a lot of fun and the food was excellent. I have also heard that the Frisky Oyster is really good.

We ate at Claudio's this past weekend. We went to the one on the wather, though, not the nicer restaurant on the main strip there. The food was okay - not the best I've ever had, but good. Their clam chowder was great (I tried both the manhattan and the new england, lol) -- I love clam chowder! (And no, I didn't order both - my hubby ordered one and I ordered the other!)

I think the main (indoor) restaurant would have been a lot nicer.

These are some of mine and DH's favorites...

The Cooperage Inn This place in Riverhead was featured in the 2007 Zagat book.

The Seafood Barge This place in Southold was rated "Excellent" by the NY Times

The Lobster Roll North This place in Riverhead was just featured in Newsday.

We went to the main indoor restaurant and believe me you didn't miss much. The place needs to be updated! Plus like you said the food wasn't anything to brag about, although I too enjoyed the clam chowder.

I like the decor there... To me it's nostalgic. Reminiscent of the past...Ya know?

The food is OK, not WOW, but good.

ITA! We did not really like Claudio's too much. It was just ok, but Fifth Season and Frisky Oyster on the other hand were outstanding.
