Restaurant suggestions: Massapequa area -within 5 miles or so

My birthday is this coming weekend and we rarely go out to eat but we are going for the bday and DH wants me to pick a restaurant. I am open to all types of food (other than sushi) but really want a place that comes highly recommended. Nothing ultra expensive but doesn't have to be super cheap either. Middle of the road prices pls

Everyone always suggests Butera's. They have a great reputation. You can probably find some great ideas on the water in BayShore and Freeport.

When we lived in Massapequa we LOVED Hudson's Mill...so good.

Il Classico was really good too.

We actually went to Matteo's in Bellmore last night for Papa Pete's 86th b-day.

It was SO good. (family style Italian) Highly recommend!!

I also like Pomodorino in Seaford and Piccolo in Bellmore is also really good.

Re: Restaurant suggestions: Massapequa area -within 5 miles or so

Hmmmn....We've tried Buteras, D*ck & Dora Nick D'Angelo, Pomodorino (OK, I've done the 3rd & 4thwith friends, he's never been...maybe I go out - and rather nicely - more than I thought LOL) and I enjoyed all of them. Per Un Angelo and Hudson's Mill sounds interesting, I've heard good things about HM. I think I've passed Per Un Angelo but never heard about it before.

Thank you for the all the suggestions, I wasn't coming up with a place at all except Friendly's Chat Icon

If you like Cajun/New Orleans type food Big Daddy's is awesome and they have great drinks too. They are in Massapequa near the train station.

I've never eaten there but it's on the border of Massapequa/Amityville across from McCann's (I think that's the name of the bar) on the left headed towards Amityville next to Commerce Bank.

I heard it's really good too. I also heard Bellisimo in Amityville is really good, although I've never been there either yet.

Hudson's Mill is delicious or the new Brooks & Porter in Merrick (a little $ but awesome steakhouse). Il Classico is great Italian. Thom Thom in Wantagh is always good. I think Big Daddy's has gone downhill over the last 2 years or so. The Village Lantern in Lindenhurst is good German food, but the service is meh since they are brand new. Oak Chalet in Bellmore is good German. Great Mexican at South of the Border in Wantagh, but it's up by Hempstead Tpke and not sure if you want to go that far. Butera's is always a fave too.
