How much of your work history do you include? Would you list a job you did 10 years ago for approximately 8 months?

It depends on what else is on your resume.
If you were at your current job for 10 years and they job before was relevant to what you are going for now, I would put it on there.
If you are onto 3 pages with it, no.

I would probably leave it off - it was a short time and it was 10 years ago.
If it was say a short assignment between 2 long jobs. You could also just list the company and job title so they know you were employed.
