Should i even bother sending my resume?

I am a 6th grade teacher but evetually i would like to teach at the college level in an education program.I went on CUNYs website and I see that they need adjuncts at queensbourogh community college which is where i would have to preobobly start .Now i only have three yeasr exp btu i feel i could teach a class. I knwo that most undergrad programs require a class on famous educators and i am very confident i could do that or even another class. i may have only been teachign three years but i feel i have learned alot. Do you think i should apply or do you think three years is not enough exp?
This would be ideal to start doign so that when we have kids i could do just this and work at night and not have to put my child in day care
TIA

I work at a college. You could try--you usually don't get to specify exactly which course you want to teach. Usually a department puts an ad, and then they hire and tell you what you are teaching and when. You don't get to choose a time--often adjuncts are given weekends or nights since the full time profs. usually don't want those. My dad is a college president, and I know they have enough applicants with PhDs and EdDs now that it might be very hard for you to get full time appointment without a doctorate (it used to be much easier), but this could get a foot in the door. Oh, and the pay is NOT good. I was offered an adjunct job at the master's level at a university and it was a little over $1,000. Usually they look for some experience teaching at the college level.
