Resume Review
Just an idea that I had for those looking for a job...
maybe we should start a resume review for those struggling to find something. Anyone who wants to help out can give feedback to those looking.
I've been looking at resumes all day for my job & usually read it over twice before I decide to move forward with a candidate. Having seen a lot of resumes, certain formats rdo standout, using power words, etc.
I've just looked a senior level guy's resume that had several spelling mistakes & didn't detail a lot of his work experience. My feeling is if he wants a job, this is his first impression with a company so into the garbage bin.
I recognize that anonymity may be a problem for some.

Re: Resume Review
I used to review resumes too A LONG time ago but I am willing to help.
I always had my resumes reviewed.
Fresh eyes can point things out on resumes we might not realize.
- typos - omission of information - Unclear explanation of position - things to remove - things to promote - Removing "juvenile" information
In short, how to sell yourself on paper and make yourself the best you can be without lying either.

Re: Resume Review
I don't mind looking at those in the social work field.
I also don't mind leaving a good resume with my employer, however, I usually do it anonymously. I feel funny when they ask how I know the person.

Re: Resume Review
This would be very helpful. Especially to those who have fallen on hard times and can't afford to pay someone to review their resume.

Re: Resume Review
I would do this. I could review administrative, recent college grad and technology resumes.

Re: Resume Review
You can email it to [email protected] if you want me to review it.
It's not an email address I use regularly but at least it's one I can post on an open forum
I definitley would NOT post it here for review (after all I did say that as HR, I google potential candidates - you don't want a potential employer looking at your screen name on LIF ). If you FM the people that said they would review it for an email address, I think that's the best way to go.
Also you may want to email it as a doc so we can edit it. If you could indicate what software you're using (Office 2007, etc.) that would be helpful. Sometimes track changes works differently if you don't have the conversion tool installed.
