Retrieval on Tuesday! - UPDATE AT BOTTOM OF FIRST POST
This is my very first cycle and I my mind is spinning! I have to use a nasal spray they gave me tonight to make sure I don't ovulate, then blood checked tomorrow, and Tuesday morning, retrieval. Poor hubby has abstained almost a week now.
I am told I will have local anesthesia, to take two Tylenol an hour prior to the procedure, and that I will be given a valium. Uh boy. I am not a wimp when it comes to pain, but my HSG was really really painful. I know everyone's different, but can anyone tell me kinda what to expect in pain on a scale of 1 to 10?
Thanks everybody!
UPDATE:
So Monday night they call and say I didn't respond to the trigger, and retrieval is postponed. They told me to repeat the trigger at midnight, and again at 1am, which I did, and to report for blood work and sono this a.m. Long story short, still didn't respond well to trigger nasal spray, and have to do a 1 time injection tonight at 11:15, with retrieval now scheduled for 9:15am Thursday.
P.S. - the doctor says he is definitely going to freeze the embryos as the fact that I'm still bleeding from the initial provera at the start of this whole IVF cycle means I'm not ready for transfer right away.
What an EMOTIONAL roller coaster ride. But, all will be well. I am so tired (I'm on 1 and a half hours of sleep due to anxiety) so since I don't have to report to the doctor tomorrow, I hope to sleep like a baby tonight.

Re: Retrieval on Tuesday!
OK under anasthesia you will be asleep - you will not feel a thing. And you will feel woozy in a good way when you wake up.
I had no pain, no cramping, no discomfort - it was a total breeze!!

Thanks for letting me know. I was told specifically though that I am going to be awake. Local anesthesia. I should be okay though.

Re: Retrieval on Tuesday!
it should be fine. The part that hurts with HSG is dilating your cervix and they dont do that with IVF, its just a small incision in to the vagina (so small it doesnt require stitches and I never even had any bleeding afterwards).
Good luck!

Re: Retrieval on Tuesday!
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With mine, after in recovery I felt good. Sore....but the tylenol I took helped. Then I guess things setlled and I felt a little more pain the next 2 days. It was fine when I rested, just hurt to move around. I hear the more eggs they get the worse you typically feel, but it was 100% worth it and not excruciiating by any means.
I will keep you in my prayers!!!!

Re: Retrieval on Tuesday! - UPDATE AT BOTTOM OF FIRST POST
Wow I am sorry you are going through this -- it sounds like an emotional rollercoaster. I hope the trigger tonight was what you needed!! I never heard of the nasal spray - maybe it is somewhat experimental still?
Good luck!!
