Retrieval Today - update

All, I just wanted to share my story.

My husband and I had our first consultaiton for IVF in early May and it feels like such a long process for this to start becoming a reality.

My details on IVF:

- started on Metaformin in June and took 1500 (3 pills a day) until yesterday - along with fish oil 2x a day, vitamin E 2x per week, 500 mg vitamin C a day, and a prenatal once a day.

- After many ultrasounds and tests, I started lupron (.10) daily on 10/10 (continued until 11/4 with going down to .5 daily)
- Took Gonel F Pen for approx 13 days at 225
- Took Gonel F at at 150 and Repronex at 75 for a few days
- Took Repronex at 225 for a few days
- Took Trigger shot on 11/4
- Went for retrieval this morning at 8 AM. They put me out but wow... the cramping was intense. I took 2 percacet (sp?) today an was knocked out.
I feel better now but still feel the pain.

They retrieved 21 eggs which I'm happy about.
- They will do the ICSI tonight
- I will get a call Wed morning with a status update on growth/maturity
- I will get a call Thur morning with a status update on growth/maturity
- I will get a call Fri morning with an update (the embryos have to have at least 6 cells to send to the lab for genetic testing). They will send those embryos to the lab Friday
- Sat I will get the news of what embryos are infected with Cystic Fibrosis, are carriers of CF, or have no trait.
- On Sunday I will get implanted (transfer) 2 embryos and possibly freeze the rest - I don't feel I can make that decision until I know how many are mature and made it at a carrier/non carrie status.

- I am currently on 3 antibiotics and promtrium pills for 3x day.
- I also stared my progesterone oil shots tonight and will have to take 2 cc of that 2x a day until 10-12 weeks of preganancy (fingers crossed).

I will take a pregnancy test on 11/25.

I know every story and woman is differnt on this board, but I wanted to share and potentially hope anyone on what to expect.

It's been a tough process physically on my body - have bruises all over and aches and pains but I know it will all be worth it in the end.
Now I will just pray everything works and I get pregnant with strong embryos that will stay for 40 weeks to give us healthy baby(ies).

Good luck to you...21 eggs is a good number and you should have good fertilization with ICSI.

Good Luck!! It is a hard process but it will be worth it in the end. And 21 eggs is great! You should be happy!!!!

21 eggs
20 matured
17 fertilized
