Returning things...

I exchanged a sweater I bought in Zara the other day - I just wanted a different color - and the salesgirl actually sniffed it! Not once, but twice! Chat Icon Is it me or is that weird? I worked in retail all through high school and college and never did that!!!

She did the exchange, but now I'm petrified that my house smells or something! She was really smug about it too, which just totally p!ssed me off! Chat Icon

Re: Returning things...

She probably sniffed it to make sure it didn't smell like deoderant or something. People have a habit of wearing clothes with the tags and then returning it after they've worn it for their purposes.

Re: Returning things...

Ugh, how annoying! They probably tell them to do that--last weekend I was at Macy's and tried on a dress that STANK like perfume and had deodorant stains all under the arms! Ick!

I would think this is the reason. They are not aboligated to give full refunds for items they think might have been worn or washed.

She could have been more subtle about it thoughChat Icon

Chat Icon sorry for laughing, but that reminded me of a skit from SNL with Sherry Oterri - "take it back nah!"

but yes, I think it is odd that she smelled it Chat Icon

Re: Returning things...

that is really weird. but think about it, you get out of the shower, put deoderant on, some perfume, get dressed, decide you don' tlike it. It's going to smell like you. Because I know I wear it for a few minutes or so to decide if I really like it or not. I have to look in every mirror in the house and move around in it.

Re: Returning things...

That definitely is odd. Of the many things I have returned, never had any of it "sniffed".

She could have been sniffing for detergent to accuse you of washing it so she can use that excuse to not accept it back. Either way, thats weird.

When I used to work in a clothing store as a teenager, my manager smelled the CROTCH area of pants and told a lady that she wore them and she couldn't accept them.
