Right pointer finger numbness
This is going to sound strange, and has been going on for years, but for some reason I decided to research it now... not quite sure why...
Ever since I was in maybe 7th or 8th grade my right pointer finger (and occassionally the left one, too) would go numb - turn whitish/cold - for no reason.... no massaging or shaking would get it to come back... sometimes it would stay that way for 20 minutes or so.... sometimes if i pumped the finger by pressing it against my thumb that would work....My friends used to tease me b/c my hands were always constantly cold, and no one ever thought it was anything bad really... It was never a constant thing... would happen once in a blue moon, but definitely happened more when I was younger....
Now that it's 13 years later, and I'm a grown up and it hasn't happened in a long time, it makes me wonder. It happened a few times in the past 2 weeks and I am curious about WHY this happens and if it's dangerous. I just did some research online and everything's saying it's likely a herniated disc... but I can't imagine having gotten one in 7th grade? and for it to be so sporadic over the past dozen years...
Any ideas? I'll likely bring it up at my next well visit...

Re: Right pointer finger numbness
I know that I get finger numbness when my neck and back muscles are spasmed. I'll shift position and the feeling will come back into my fingers.
I wouldn't think it was anything serious since nothing came of it in all those years since 8th grade. But if it worries you or persists, it can't hurt running it past a doctor.
