Risk for OHSS (Updated 6/26)
Nurse called today and I have to trigger tonight! ER on Thursday morning! But they also prescribed me Cabergoline and I need to stop drinking water and instead drink 48 oz of Gatorade in addition to 8 oz V8 (yuck) a day to decrease chance of OHSS. Anyone else have this issue? TIA!
UPDATE 6/23: Yesterday the nurse called and said of the 16 retrieved, 10 were mature and 6 fertilized. Now we wait and see how many make it to day 5. They had me go back in yesterday (day after ER) because I had shortness of breath. He did a sono and turns out I do have some fluid in my abdomen and mild OHSS symptoms. It is now 2 days past ER and I still don't feel well--pains in my stomach and occasional shortness of breath. And of course I'm sore from PIO injections. I have to go back Monday for more monitoring and then we'll see if I can transfer Tuesday. I'm thinking we'll probably have to freeze whatever makes it and then do FET.
UPDATE 6/25: I went in this morning and he said things look ok. I am much less bloated and lost 3 lbs since Friday. He wants me to continue on the Cabergoline for another 8 days, in addition to Gatorade and v8. I will get a call later with an update on the embryos but he said I should be good to transfer tomorrow. Today is my birthday so that was some good news...I hope I get more good news on embryos later.
But now I'm wondering if it would it be better to do FET over fresh to give my body time to regulate a bit? My 4 y/o is having kidney surgery July 26 (was supposed to be June 16 but they canceled on us as we were being prepped to go back to OR) so that is very stressful and we are going to Disney Aug. 21-28 so now I'm pondering holding off until September but I feel like that's a long time away when I've been desperate for another baby for over 2 years. Then I think, what if I wait til September and it doesn't take, that's 2 months wasted. Any opinions??
Update #2: We are going ahead with a transfer tomorrow!
Update #3: Did a SET today. We had 4 left over to freeze and 3 that they are continuing to watch. I almost wanted to change my mind and put 2 back at the last minute but DH felt strongly about only doing 1 so we will see. I go back Friday for E2 and progesterone check and then beta July 5

Yay. You have a bunch of follicles so they just want to be careful. I never had that problem because I don't get a ton of follicles. One cycle out of all of them I had 15 retrieved but I felt fine.
Did you get this many follicles in previous cycles? If not what did you do differently?

This is my first IVF cycle and first time using injectable stims. I've used Clomid in the past for IUIs and then started an IVF cycle in December but only did the Lupron before we cancelled the cycle (not for any medical reason).

Did you have to do a frozen transfer instead of fresh?

Re: Risk for OHSS
Good luck! Sorry you’re going through this with the symptoms of OHSS. For what it’s worth, my doctor prefers an FET because your body is under less stress than right from the retrieval. Your body really takes a beating from a fresh cycle. With the freeze methods today, the success rates are the same or arguably even better.

Thank you! I know, I've been reading a lot about how FET are becoming the new preferred method for transfer. I feel like this whole process is hurry up and wait. I'll see what he says tomorrow morning when I go in for OHSS monitoring.

Risk for OHSS (Updated)
Sorry you got OHSS. I hope you feel better soon. Fingers crossed your embryos make it to blast! It sucks waiting another cycle to transfer but probably the best bet if you have ohss.

Thank you. I've felt a little better everyday since Saturday so I wonder if a lot of it was just from the retrieval itself and not necessarily OHSS. Dr. said he is comfortable doing a fresh transfer, depending on how the embryos look later today.

When is beta?
July 5...I'm kind of in that "hope for best, expect the worst" stage. Just not feeling overly confident, but I guess years of BFNs does that. We'll see
