Robitussin DM
The list my dr gave me in the beginning for cough has Robitussin and Robitussin DM on it. When I spoke to them today about what else I can do for this awful cough I have they said to take Robitussin but not DM. So I told them that's what I've been taking bc that's what was on the list they gave me. Then she tells me they have a new list and that's no longer on it! I'm freaking out now, I've already used half a bottle. Does anyone know the reason why they say you shouldn't use DM?

Re: Robitussin DM
My doctor said no too. My doc said something about taking medicines with the least amount of ingredients is best during pregnancy and why she recommends no DM.
I wouldn't worry about what you have taken so far. I would switch to regular Robitussin if recommended your doctor now

I think because DM treats a multitude of symptoms and there hasn't been enough studies on pregnant women if those types of cocktails are safe. If it 's just for a cough, it's a pretty straight forward ingredient and only 1 that helps your cough.

Re: Robitussin DM
I was taking it too before I was told not to. I checked the ingredients. There is nothing in it that is contraindicated for pregnancy. IMO, they just want you taking the least amount of meds as possible. Plus they don't really know the effects of the meds given that all studies are done on rats.
