Rocking 11 month old to Sleep
I still do this at night. He BF for about 1 minute and then off to sleep..i want to wean him off the BF and rocking but I dont know how to go about doing that. Also, for his whole life I have been the only one to put him down at night. I want to let Gary do it but we have this routine that we follow and have been following since Gavin was like 3 weeks old. How do I transition him so that other people can just put him in his crib? I dont want to shock the poor kid. Help!!

Re: Rocking 11 month old to Sleep
I would start by BF him in a different room than his bedroom and transfer him to your DH to put him down.
The first few times are going to be really rough- mostly on you! But it does get easier

Re: Rocking 11 month old to Sleep
Hmmmm...my first reaction was to say that maybe both things have to be done separately. So first wean him off the night feeding and get him to go down. Then maybe have your DH come in the room and sit near you while you but him to sleep. Finally, start switching off and see how it goes.
No idea if this is even helpful or good advice...just the first thing that popped into my mind.

Re: Rocking 11 month old to Sleep
I was thinking of trying to have DH in the room and then have him rock DS. He only BF for comfort and its never even more then 3 minutes. I can put him down awake and drowsy and he goes to sleep but thats still me putting him in. I think I will try have DH in the room with me and have him put gav in teh crib. Any other thoughts???

Re: Rocking 11 month old to Sleep
Your story sounds alot like mine...I am the only one who puts dd to bed, unless I am not home and then DH is forced to do it
I have always rocked dd to sleep, I could NOT do CIO. She is 14 months old. Now, what I do, is I rock her for less than 5 minutes and put her in the crib. She usually cries for less than 5 minutes, but if she gets hysterical, I will still go in and rock her. Lately, for the past 3 months or so, she has been falling asleep on her own with very little crying so it was an easy transition
good luck

Oh thank you..at least I'm not the only one. Does your DH put her to sleep now? Have you ever had a babysitter do it?

My dh will only put her to sleep if I am not home or if she is being cranky and I am getting stressed
She has slept at my il's on occasion and they do not rock her at all, just put her down and she goes to sleep. I think they have the ability to hear her cry (CIO) while I do not but I am getting better at it. I will let her cry for a bit now and she usually (95% of the time) falls asleep quickly
