Re: Romantic hotels in Montreal?
We stayed in the Sheraton downtown- don't know if it was super romantic, but I can say that the Sheraton has some of the most comfortable beds (they are REALLLYYY nice).
Things to do: Notre-Dame Basilica (Basilique Notre-Dame), Montreal Montreal's oldest Catholic church, built in 1656, is known for its intricately designed interior, which includes stained glass chronicling the history of the city.
Montreal Botanical Gardens (Jardin Botanique de Montreal), Montreal Located near Olympic Park, Montreal's huge botanical garden contains over 20,000 different plant species in 31 specialized gardens, including the largest Chinese Garden outside Asia and a Japanese Garden with a tearoom and fabulous bonsai collection. The Insectarium hosts an "Insect Tasting" in November and December.
Old Montreal (Vieux-Montreal), Montreal Stroll, bicycle or take a horse-drawn carriage through the narrow cobblestone streets of Montreal's famous Parisian-style historic district, filled with cultural landmarks, museums, boutiques, sidewalk cafes and restaurants.
Biodome de Montreal, Montreal Housed in a former stadium used in the 1976 Olympics, the educational and entertaining Biodome consists of four different ecological habitats - rain forest, polar, marine and forest - where visitors can see the plants and animals native to each ecosystem. The polar penguins and puffins and the tropical monkeys and parrots will enthrall children and adults alike.
Casino de Montreal, Montreal Lit up like a jewel at night, this casino on the Ile Notre-Dame is the largest in Quebec and one of the ten largest in the world in terms of the amount of gaming equipment. The excellent live entertainment draws gamblers and nongamblers alike.

Re: Romantic hotels in Montreal?
I LOVED the botanical gardens. The Biodome thing is very cool (& indoors).
Old montreal is very romantic.
I stayed in The Queen Elizabeth both times I was there--it is a little pricy though--the first time I had a package deal & the second time was a business trip.
Is this your first vacation with your BF? It was my first vacation with my DH, when we first started dating.

Re: Romantic hotels in Montreal?
awwww how nice!
I've only been up there once, with a bunch of college girls. We stayed at some cheap hotel - I can't remember the name, but I wouldn't recommend it anyway!
Are you flying up, or driving? Just be careful if you're driving--- we went at the end of January and got caught in a HUGE snowstorm on the way up. My poor suitemate smashed up her car!

Re: Romantic hotels in Montreal?
We just stayed at the Auberge du Vieux-Port in Old Montreal back in late September...it was very romantic - very old-world - and the food was delicious. The room was gorgeous: as was the view:
I loved the Biodome and the Botanical gardens...and walking around Old Montreal - down by the port - was very romantic. Cobblestone streets, outdoor cafes - was very European.
