Root canal high quote- any recommendations?
Hello. I need two root canals apparently and was just quoted $3,500 for one tooth. No idea if this is normal but it sounds high to me. I do not have dental insurance. Any recommendations for a cheaper place? If that is possible.

A few years ago with insurance I paid 1,200 for one tooth but I needed a specialist to do it twice to the one tooth because the root was so long. I am in NJ so I don't have a recommendation.

Look into purchasing a discount dental plan like EDP. That should help a bit with the cost.

I live in Northport but I work in Nassau and NYC so I am willing to go anywhere really. I will look into EDP-thanks. Hopefully it will cover me because I have already been diagnosed as needing a root canal? I imagine it would.

Definitely check out EDP! I needed wisdom teeth removed, signed up and had them out within a week.

$3500 PER tooth?? That is too high (at least on Long Island, not sure the going rate in NYC). The tooth number matters, too (a molar is more $$ than a premolar or an anterior). A specialist (endodontist) is more than a general dentist. Unless the $3500 includes the post, core and crown IN ADDITION to the root canal, it is an insanely high quote.

They have a list of dentists that take it so look for one through there.

Yes-I am sorry I am new to this all! It was a quote for a molar, but I am not sure about premolar or anterior. There was one he said he could do himself and one I had to be referred out for because it was more involved. The quote he gave me was for my root canal and a crown. Not sure what a post or core are.

i think this is a little high. for a molar with an endodontist, with the crown, i paid about 3K total with no insurance.

I had a root canal a couple of years ago, and while I don't remember which tooth it was, when it was all said and done, I believe it was pretty close to 3k.

But if you nee a root canal specialist, they only take like 20% off.
I go to Raphaelson in deer park. They have like 8 dentists on staff. Two of which are root canal specialists that will take EDP. 1 root canal is about 795 going to them. A reg root canal specialist wanted $2200 just for the root canal with EDP. I love the dentists at Raphaelson.
