Root canal question
I'm ready to pass out -- I just found out I need a root canal. There is nobody more dental phobic than me lol...
I thought my dentist's office would send me to an endodontist, but they have a dentist in their office that only does root canals. Do you think this is ok or do you think I should see an endodontist. There may also be a crack in my tooth.
I'd rather give birth again than go through this...

I have dental phobia too so I know what thats like.
I had a root canal done a few years ago and the fear of it was much worse then the actual procedure. It didn't hurt more then having a tooth filled but took slightly more time.
I would go to an endodonist rather then have a normal dentist do this but that's just me

Re: Root canal question
I used to be dental phobic- really really dental phobic. Petrified of the dentist, that is what got me into getting root canal. I got a new dentist and got over my fear. I had no choice.I neede 2 root canals. My reguar dentist did my root canal- one was on a cracked tooth, the other one was a deep cavity that I ignored until it was the 4th of July and I was in agony. It really was not as bed as I expected. The hardest part was keeping my mouth open for a long time. I did fine. The one w/ the cracked tooth was more painful and got infected. Just let them know you are in pain. A good dentist does not want you to be in pain.Take the pain meds and any antibiotics they give you. I go for cleanings every 3 months like clockwork, weather it is covered or not. I never want to experience what I did ever again. Now I was released to every 4 months. It will be fine. Feel free to FM mail me if you need to talk. Good luck w/ the procedure.
ETA- My 2nd root canal, I was falling asleep in the chair! Crazy coming from someone who was so phobic to begin with. I was afraid I would fall asleep while trying to keep my mouth open.Yikes!

Re: Root canal question
I would see an endodontist. If you need a recommendation, I have a great recommendation whom I trust explicitly.
