Rough day over here - Jack split above his lip open
We were at Behrs looking at bunk beds (I'm crazy I know) and he was running around and kept falling for some reason.
We were just about to leave as he ran forward and fell face first into the footboard of the one the beds. Of course there was blood everywhere. We threw him in the car and went to the ped. The ped said he will need 3 stictches and was sending us to North Shore.
DH and I thought about it and really didn't want to put Jack through that kind of pain. I asked my ped if we were negligent parents if we didn't give him stitches - he said no (phew) and just that he would have a teeny scar. I can live with a teeny scar.
It was just so horrible and I can't get the whole thing out of my head. I know being a mom of a boy I have to get used to him getting hurt but I just can't.

Poor Jack!! I am sure he will be fine!
I'll never forget the first time Andrew fell on the cement and the pool and gashed open his lip! It was the most horrible thing! Looked worse than it really was!

You know I'm crazy! If it's a boy I want to get bunkbeds so I wanted to see the selection they had there. In my defense Behrs is only two seconds from my house so it wasn't a far trip

Re: Rough day over here - Jack split above his lip open
awww poor Jack! that is so sad, was he freaking out? Keep in mind that the upper lip is a HORRIBLE area when healing ( I know just what you wanted to hear right? ) I only say this b/c If you see its not looking "right" ...take him to the Ped ASAP so they can make sure it heals correctly.
In kids his age it usually does heal very well.
DH got hit with a baseball on his upper lip and needed a plastic surgeon to do his stiches.
No worries at all, just want you to make sure you get a follow up if needed.
Sending Tons of Hugs to you and Jack!!!

Re: Rough day over here - Jack split above his lip open
My dd fell on cement last fall and cut below her nose and above her lip. It didn't bleed that long but later i realised it was pretty deep. We didnt get stiches though, and there was a nice little mark through Christmas but a little bit of scar cream and now it is faded where you can barely see it. Hopefully it will just take a little time.

Awwww.
When he gets older girls will dig it
Did the ped check out his ears? Falling a lot can be a sign of an ear infection.
Hope he is feeling better!

He didn't - but I think it was because he only napped for an hour - versus his two hour nap - so he was completely thrown off and exhausted.

Re: Rough day over here - Jack split above his lip open
Awww- Poor Jack! And poor mommy and daddy!
When I was little (around Jack's age)- something very similar happened to me- and I split the part between my upper lip and nose open. I didn't get stitches, and I do have a teeny tiny little scar that no one notices except myself when I look really hard for it- so I"m sure Jack will be just fine!
