Royal Icing
I want to make royal icing for my xmas cookies. I got a recipe from foodnetwork and it says the icing is good for 3 hours. Does this mean the cookies have to be eaten within 3 hours, or is it OK to refrigerate them for a few days. I know it contains raw egg, so I want to be sure they will be OK.

Re: Royal Icing
I would think they mean the icing will be ready to use for up to 3 hours before it is as hard as a rock.

Re: Royal Icing
Royal icing is the one that hardens and you use as an "outline" or for cementing gingerbread houses right?
I would think that if I'm thinking of the right one- the 3 hrs refers to how long it stays liquid to use

Re: Royal Icing
no they mean you won't be able to use it to decorate after 3 hours, make sure to keep a damp paper towel (not wet, just slightly damp) over the icing bowl. Royal Icing dries out really quickly.
