Royal Playa Del Carmen
DH and I are going to the Royal Playa Del Carmen in Riviera Maya in December, and we're trying to decide on what restaurant at the resort where we should eat when we first arrive?
Any other must-do or must-see's while we are there would be great, too!
TIA

Re: Royal Playa Del Carmen
Do you mean the Royal Hideaway? If so, we just went in the beginning of October. I would choose Las Ventanas or the Palazzo for the first night if you are looking for a less casual option. My DH liked Las Ventanas more and I liked Palazzo. Las Ventanas is continental cuisine and had a trendy feel. Palazzo is italian. Spices is Mexican cuisine. It was good too but didn't have as strict of a dress code. The Grill and Azia were closed when we were there so I can't comment on what the atmosphere. They did serve Azia's (Asian) menu at Spices one night and the food was really good. We loved our trip, thought the food was really good, and the service was amazing. We didn't leave the resort once so I can't give you any feedback on that! let me know if you have any other questions.

Re: Royal Playa Del Carmen
Thank you It is actually a different resort, though. We're staying at Royal Playa Del Carmen . I can't wait. Some of the restaurants sound similar though...

Oh well. Have fun! Your resort looks great too. I hear the town is nice, but like I said we didn't leave. We wanted 100% relaxation so we refused to leave the pool except to eat! Enjoy!~

Re: Royal Playa Del Carmen
we stayed there for our HM in august its very beautiful but the food was ehhh.. the asian resturant is probably the best.. they others are mediocre we ate at the buffet a lot which still was ehhh...
the food wasnt bad - it was the food selections. im more on the picky side. DH didnt have much of a problem but he too would have liked a better selection!

Re: Royal Playa Del Carmen
We were there in August '07 and loved it. We liked the food choices very much... a lot of great seafood. Pelicanos was great for lunch and we liked Maria Marie for dinner. Great service all-around! I hope you have a great time. I'm so jealous. I was recently pregnant when we went and we knew it was probably our last real adult vacation for a long time. We made the best of every moment!
