RP: clomid...bad/good?
Hi girls!,
Since my cycle has been crazy going from 31-35-42 days since my 5month MC in January, my RE is considering putting me on Clomid, to help me ovulate..We've had no PF success and we've been trying for 5 months.....I want to talk to my OB.GYN as well, since I'm not too familiar with Clomid...i dont i like putting drugs in my body if i dont have to....
can you let me know your advice/experience with clomid?
thanks....

Re: RP: clomid...bad/good?
Clomid is the first thing most RE's and/or OB-GYN's will try. It is non-invasive and can help to create what is called a "stronger" ovulation. Meaning better quality eggs and/or more than one egg per cycle. Be careful that they don't have you on it for more than a few months as it can thin out your endometrial lining over time. The most common side effects are headaches and/or hot flashes.

Re: RP: clomid...bad/good?
I was worried about being put on it b/c I heard about all of the bad side effects, but the only thing that I had was horrible dreams, lilke to the point that I felt I was hallucinating.. It worked for me and I'm now 13 weeks pregnant, so you never know! Good luck!

Clomid isn't that bad...I take it at bedtime, so I'm not really experiencing side effects like I did when I took it during the day.

Re: RP: clomid...bad/good?
Bad dreams and hot flashes like you wouldn't believe. All the menopausal women at work are laughing at me. The first time I was horribly bloated and really uncomfy around O-time. But I also had an HSG that week. This month, I just took my last dose and I feel much better than last month. But I am roasting. I feel as red as that person!!

Re: RP: clomid...bad/good?
I would take Clomid CD3-7, start OPK's on CD10 (which never worked for me anyway). I was told if I got no +OPK by CD15 to come in for bloodwork and a sono. Which is how they usually monitor you for your LH surge and follicle growth.

Re: RP: clomid...bad/good?
Usually I take it cd3-7 and then I come in around 11-12ish for bloodwork and monitoring. I am surging a little late this month so I had a sono and bloodwork on friday, today and tomorrow. I guess they want to make sure they don't miss it. I also use OPK's but last month the OPK didn't pick it up on Saturday morning (the bloodwork was just a few numbers under surge level so they had me come in on Sunday for the IUI anyway) and they OPK picked up the surge on Sunday morning and I think I ovulated Sunday night.

Re: RP: clomid...bad/good?
Clomid didn't work for me. I did 6 months of Clomid - 5 IUI's, but we found out we were dealing with MF. IVF is what eventually worked for me.
I also live OOS, so I didn't see any of the RE's the ladies here go to.

Re: RP: clomid...bad/good?
I took them both at night. That worked best for me! You have to take the clomid around the same time each day.
Going for bw and sonos is the best route. I ahd to go for 4 days in a row and then back to back IUI's. Its annoying, but it is better than missing your O day!!
Good Luck to you!!!

Re: RP: clomid...bad/good?
Didn't work for me!!! I also read somewhere if you take it too long it increases the chance of ovarian cancer.
