Running without an Ipod!
OMG - I never thought that I would ever be running without music, but I have reached a point where I actually prefer it - even for long runs!
Anyone else run without music?

i've never run with music - i also do not own an ipod/mp3 player! i enjoy being able to clear my head and be aware of my surroundings. its theraputic to me!

I have not run with music in about 5-6 years. I prefer it for safety reasons.

Same here...I had gotten used to no music when I ran with other people, but now that I have to run solo very early in the morning, I don't use the music. Plus, in races, I rather take in the atmosphere.

I have been skipping the ipod a lot lately too. I automatically run with the beat of the music so I have to have my playlists JUST RIGHT. I actually go faster without.

I'm pretty attached to my music, but I couldn't use headphones during a marathon. I thought I would die, but it was great. Especially since you are not going too fast, you talk to a lot of people.

I go running with my dad or my husband a lot, so I don't bring it with me then, or if I am running roads. However I still tend to use it at races - I have certain songs that help me get pumped up when I need that extra push.

I never was able to run without music before and now that I'm training for a half, I can only do long runs WITHOUT music! I like hearing the sound of my strides and being able to hear things around me.

I found that the music would distract me, and then I started hating certain songs because I listened to them every time I ran. I thought I would die without music, but I have ome to prefer it!

I used to think that I always NEEDED music to run but that isn't true! Sometimes I find it much easier when I just focus on everything around me, rather than flipping through songs.

I only run with music when I'm at home on the treadmill and can use the stereo - my earbuds fall out when I run for some reason  So more often than not, no music for me!

I need music when I'm on the elliptical at the gym, but when I run I don't listen to music. I used to, but now I bring my dog with me so I need to be able to hear when a car is coming past us so I can make sure she gets out of the way.

I definitely prefer running with music, but I don't use my ipod when I run with my jogging stroller, which is most of the time.
