I have no advice, but its all going to be OK.  Your FIL will be fine. He may need to make some lifestyle changes, but he'll be OK.

I'm no doctor, so take this with a grain of salt. I took a very intensive course on diabetes a while back. Although its perceived that diabetes means "no more sugar", its much deeper than that. Diabetics are prone to have extremely high cholesterol rates and blood pressure. More so than your average person. With some rest and some yucky but monitored hospital food, hopefully he'll be on the road to recovery. Have faith that he's in good hands and that you have many girls here praying for him.

agreed! He will be ok..he's in the best possible place. Glad his body gave him these signs before it was worse.

He just called saying that hes going to be in the hospital for a week or 2.. they are running lots of more test soooo more of the waiting game.

He's much better off in a place where they have scores of medical staff trained in case of emergency.

Well, no updates really.. Hes a diabetic and didn't know.. his blood was sooo thick it had to be sent to a special lab to be read... hes on morphine.. and in lots of pain.. they can't figure out whats wrong with him

Update #4:
Ok, I went to the hospital last night.. the doctor came in and told us that he 100% has pancreatitis.. Hes going to be
be monitored very closely. He cannot put anything in his system for a few days. There is a chance it could get worse but I think hes going to get better. He was in less pain yesterday. So thats a good sign. They are keeping a VERY close watch on his levels. So we REALLY have to pray that they go down today bc if they are then it looks like he will eventually be on the road to recovery!

Also I wanted to tell you that 2 years ago I had a very severe case of pancreatitis due to gall stones that clogged up my bile duct. I had very bad glucose, liver wasn't working right, all kinds of stuff! I wound up staying in the hospital for 2 months and then came home with a catheter in my chest so I could still get the liquid food since I still after all that time was not allowed to eat anything. I'm not telling you this to scare you, I'm telling you b/c I was an extreme case they said and now I am fine! Total recovery to be back to normal for me was around 3-4 months. I was able to start eating regular food but they had me on a strict diet until all my ct scans showed no signs of being sick, that was almost a year after it all started, but again I was extreme. I have since had a baby (which I had to get the ok from my dr) and I can eat and drink whatever I want. My last ct scan a few months ago showed no sign of anything. So if you have any questions please feel free to FM me, I'm sort of a self made expert on this topic!!
