S. Huntington - Give me any scoop or info!!
Any of you Ladies live or have lived in the area, would love some info on it.

South Huntington is huge. There are some areas that are more desirable then others. My husband grew up there and I am not a fan of the Whitman HS, this is my opinion.

South Huntington is a great area. Hunting station is not that great in my opinion although some areas of south huntington are consider Huntington station it is still a good area. There are lots of great areas North of Jericho. The maplewood section is also very nice.

I totally agree!
I have a good friend who lives in Huntington (west of 110 and north of Jericho). Her kids go to Whitman! It is a great school! It has totally been changed in the last few years. Two of her kids have graduated with a ton of AP credits and got great scholarships to big name schools!

I totally agree!

I think you really need to drive around the neighborhood and street if you are thinking about buying in the area. Some neighborhoods are nice (like Maplewood) and others are not so nice. DH grew up there and he went to private school. I was also an intern in the district a few years ago. The high school was fine, by no means a 'bad' school.
We looked to buy in S. Huntington as well. We saw a house we really liked, but did not bid on solely b/c of the area. It was in Huntington Station and was near what we considered a rough part of town off rt. 110. We ended up in East Northport (Elwood SD) and I'm glad it worked out that way. I feel like Northport/East Northport is a more solidly good family-friendly area.

Huntington Station is huge and encompassed 4 school districts. Some parts are very nice and very $$$$ while other parts aren't that nice so you really have to look into the area you are moving in to.

ITA!
Your best bet is to drive around the areas you're interested in, do some research on schools and neighborhoods and form your own opinion on the area.

The area is beautiful, I have driven there during the day at night, etc.. and there are young couples with kids outside and after 11:00 you can hear a pin drop.
The house is actually not far from Kosta Park, off Melville Rd. does anyone know that area?
