sad about weaning
Hello, My DD is almost 9 months old, and I just breastfed for the last time. I had been having a much decreased supply, she has a much diminished interest in the breast, and I had been weaning to just 2 feeds a day. I get only 1-2 oz combined when I pump, so she eats mostly formula. I had decided that New Year's would be the last feed. I'm just so sad I won't ever nurse her again. She is very good with the bottle, and I don't think she is even going to miss nursing, but I will! Then when I think maybe I should continue, I know I'll just be sad whenever the "last one" is, that it is hard to let go. Anyone else go through these feelings? I didn't know it would be so sad to let go!

Re: sad about weaning
i imagine how sad you are to stop. i am only 3 months in and i am already so ambivalent about stopping... when the day comes i know it will be emotional...
but as this phase in your relationship with your child ends, another will begin in its place.
congrats on bfing for 9 whole months!!

I am so sorry- you poor thing!
I am DREADING that day. I swore I'd wean at 6 months- and now I've decided to shoot for a year because I love it so much.

Re: sad about weaning
My DD is 10.5 months and I have been considering weaning but I can't do it just yet. I keep hoping that she will do it on her own. I had such a hard start and now we both love it SO much.
I know the sadness of which you speak

Re: sad about weaning
I can relate pretty much. DD is 6 months, and nurses half-time and gets a bottle the other half. I pump once a day at work and nurse her in the morning & night...I was just thinking that I really think I need to take out the pumping during the day...it's really hard to do it while I'm at work, and it would make life so much easier if I stopped the pumping, but I would like to still nurse in the morning & night. I will be VERY sad when I stop the night nursing, VERY sad...I love to cuddle with her and bond with her.

Re: sad about weaning
I understand how emotional it can be to let go of that feeding time. My DD cut me off at 7 months and it emotionally hurt me. I exclusively pumped until she was 11 months and by then I was ready to be done. I imagine that it might have been more difficult if I had to wean her.
