SAHM - BFing & pumping??
i'm planning to BF exclusively...will i need to pump as well? i have heard that sometimes that baby can't keep up with the milk being produce.
what are you girls doing? if you pump, which pump and bottle you girls do use? i have the starter set of BORN FREE from my shower.

Re: SAHM - BFing & pumping??
I pumped because in the beginning, I did not feel comfortable nursing in public at all(that went out the window).
I had rented a pump at first because of engorgement issues, but the used the isis hand pump.
I live with no family around and DH works around the clock...so no one was here to help with feedings. If I had family around, i definitely would have pumped more.

Re: SAHM - BFing & pumping??
You won't need tp pump, but you may want to just for occasions when you want to be out of the house for more than 2 hours. If you are going to guve the baby minimal bottles, you may want to buy a cheaper handheld pump, rather than an expensive Medla Pump in Style or something like that.

Re: SAHM - BFing & pumping??
i both breastfeed and pump. i've been giving DS occasional bottles since he was 2 weeks old. i was initially concerned about "nipple confusion", but my LC told me that she has never really seen in before in 17 years of her practice. sure enough, i had no problems with DS being confused.
pumping works when i want to get some continuous sleep every once in a while - dh just gives him the bottle. it also works when i need to go somewhere; for example, last weekend i was in a wedding and needed to pump 2 weeks in advance so DS would have milk for the entire day. then i brought the pump to the wedding and used it there.
i bought the medela pis and i think it was worth every cent.
i use avent bottles ;they were the first brand i tried and they worked so i haven't used any others. but it's a trial and error thing - different babies like different bottles. so i wouldn't get to many of one kind at first until you figure out your child's preferences.

Re: SAHM - BFing & pumping??
I pumped once DD was about a month old. I only gave her bottles when we ran errands or went out to eat - I am not really comfortable BF in public and it made it easier to go out and get things done and I can still feed DD without running to the car or going home.
DD uses Born free (plastic ones), avent and Dr. Browns - she does the best with Dr. Browns though.
